Holding back the giggles
July 2, 2009
So, if you photograph children or… well… if you even have multiple children – you know that a portrait session with multiple children involved can be a bit of a challenge. It can be quite a game getting everyone in the right position and looking the right direction. Honestly, it can be a challenge just getting any child just to come within range of the frame. Don’t get me wrong… that is a large part of why I love photographing toddlers. They make it new, fun, different every session I have – it is impossible to get bored! The family photo was all in position… minus Finn, as he has the super energy that every 2 year old boy typically does and didn’t want near anyone. So we plopped him down with his blanket and nuk (binky, bubble… whatever you choose to call it), and luckily we had grandma’s quick hands close by – with a little giggle from Finn and everyone else in the family each time. Pulling the nuk & blanket between every shot so that we could get him to stay in place. You have to laugh… he is one of the cutest kids I’ve met and a personality to match. Ewan hung in there and was the “big brother” and we couldn’t have done it without his great cooperation too. I want to set a big congratulations to the Clements on there newest addition to
the family Duncan!!!!
Wildflowers & Stones
July 1, 2009
What could be better than a beautifully sunny morning at Chautauqua Park in Boulder. The wildflowers are wonderful still up there this summer… and I was so excited because they usually don’t hang around this long into the summer. But, Reed wasn’t interested in the wildflowers at all – he is on the move and wants to discover, and was finally happy when he could get his feet wet and play with a rock – the typical boy. And although he may act like the typical boy… he is beautiful – and when you look at those big eyes it would cause anyone to say WOW. His sisters Sophia & Anna are also a couple of the most pleasant girls to be around, with their big eyes and sweet smiles. The best end to the session was watching Anna chase a butterfly around the park. Nothing dull about this morning… the ladybugs and grasshoppers were out in full force giving any child plenty to discover.

Happy 1st Birthday Kaylee
June 30, 2009

I have the best job in the world. I visited Kaylee just a few hours before her first birthday party this weekend – What a DOLL! Sandra & Ken were one of my weddings a few years back and I always get so excited to photograph maternity, newborns & all the years as the kids grow!
I’m sure her birthday party was great with her friends and family and look forward to seeing her grow for many years to come! BTW… great job Sandra & Ken… she is beautiful!
A CLOUDY MORNING SESSION
June 24, 2009
Morning sessions are the best here in Colorado. It was such a quiet morning to go hang out at the tracks for some portraits. I arrived a bit early and had the chance to watch to fox cubs tumbling on the tracks – but so sad that I didn’t have a lens that would reach them to take some photos… but no worries, the family portaits made up for it.

There is just something about getting up and out before everyone else is out and about. Quiet, peaceful and best of all the cloud cover makes for a cool session before that hot sun burns through the clouds.
Molly and Nathan
June 15, 2009
So a wedding with a few changes is normal…. and Molly and Nathan’s wedding was no exception. Everything paid a visit… bright sun, rain, a little hail, a tornado warning and as usual the Colorado weather was trying to take over the main stage. Not to worry… their wedding turned out great and everyone that was seated for the wedding made it inside before the rain came down (with only about 30 seconds to spare), and the ceremony was held inside at Red Rocks Country Club. Not to worry.. it cleared up just enough for a couple scenic shots before the rain came again and then by the end of the night the sky was clear again.

Christina & Brian
June 15, 2009
A beautiful day up at Boettcher Mansion – on June 7th this year, Christina and Brian were married out on the deck… with rain threatening – the weather held out for the ceremony and the portraits.
And, while I typially put a few images of the bride and groom up… I know they won’t mind that I had to put more photos of their food… well, because it wasn’t your typical wedding. Brian was there with his brother even before I arrived for getting ready photos as they have
just started their own catering business and so of course catered their own wedding. Needless to say, you know the food will be spectacular when you have the most descriminating clients (themselves).

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Wanderley
June 5, 2009

Ok… hands down the wedding of the year. This couple is just one of those that stands out in a crowd -not only because of they are a couple of the most beautiful people around, but such nice people and genuine – with a wonderful group of family and friends. It was an amazing day from start to finish with the clouds rolling in just in time to give everyone some much needed shade for the ceremony and reception and the rain stayed away so all was dry. Heidi in her Oscar de la Renta gown was a stunning sight as it fit her beautifully. Loved my trip to photograph their wedding and so happy that I had the chance to meet their family and close friends. I wish them love and happiness always.

Jorge and Heidi in Mexico
June 4, 2009
What a start to the wedding. Jorge and Heidi’s wedding events at Azul Sensatori Resort are starting out with a… BANG, including a Burro(donkey) at their rehearsal celebration. Together for about 6 years now, this is a very special event for the beautiful couple – that includes their families and close friends. Heidi has nailed the details too… with the beautiful green accent color for her wedding she has personalized all the details with her wedding coordinator Karyn Gueck. With a smile on couples’ faces at all times – you can see how excited they are for their wedding day! Wedding images will be on the way too… but couldn’t resist posting some of the rehearsal images. If the day before the wedding was this much fun, how can we not be excited to be a part of the wedding day tomorrow.

Children and families
May 22, 2009
We have a great summer planned with our clients this year. Pre-planning is such an important part of getting those images that everyone falls in love with. So many of us pass by days, months, years without timeless images of our children; and, I know that if you are a parent the time just flies by with your children. Plan a formal yet fun session for children or family once a year – make it a tradition to save precious memories, where you can all look back on them and remember the fun and relationships over the years.
Family portrait month is in June so 1/2 off sessions for the entire month! Give me a call - I would love to plan a session with you that will be outstanding… and why not make it a fun outing too…. at the zoo, at a park, in the mountains… limitless locations in and around Colorado and beyond. Jessica & Andrew
May 2, 2009
1st day of May 2009 turned out to be a beautiful day for a wedding. With the forecast looming rain and cold, it was no match for the perfect couple with a beautiful Scottish theme wedding – taking their chance on having the ceremony outdoors. A heavy cloud cover continues to prove as the ulitmate soft-box for some beautiful portraits of this happy couple, and a little cold didn’t bother them a bit. With bagpipes in the background, the ceremony was perfect in every way - and anyone could have mistaken it for being set right in Scotland with the heavy clouds overhead and the beautiful music. What made the day even more special is the dress was handmade and the flowers homegrown. I may be a little bias with being Scottish myself – but, I wouldn’t have traded this type of day for any sunny summer day for a wedding. In true form, this couple is headed off to spend their honeymoon in the only place that seems fit “Scotland.”
I wish them a long life of
happiness and love -
